The N.U.T.S of dementia: managing stress when caring for someone living with dementia

Published on 18 February 2026 at 15:14

Have you ever left a visit feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or drained?

Dementia can make everyday situations feel unpredictable. What starts as a simple interaction can quickly become stressful — for both of you.

At the end of this workshop, you’ll leave with increased confidence in your ability to handle difficult moments. Knowing you have practical tools to support both yourself and your loved one.

In this 2-hour Workshop, we explore why certain situations feel so intense and what you can do in the moment to steady yourself. Using the N.U.T.S. model of stress, you’ll learn simple, practical ways to:

  • Recognise signs of stress in yourself and your loved one

  • Pause and reset before reacting

  • Adjust the way you engage with your loved one when things don’t go as planned

This session is not about “doing it perfectly.”
It’s about understanding stress — and learning how to navigate it with more confidence.
